Serious Incidents

In case of a serious incident, injury, or death at a workplace, the prime contractor or employer must immediately report it to the board. The incidents and injuries that need to be reported, include:

  • incidents resulting in serious injury or death of a worker,

  • admission to the hospital as an inpatient,

  • major structural failures or collapses,

  • release of hazardous substances, and

  • explosions or fires that can cause serious injury or death.

Nobody shall disturb or work at the scene of the incident, injury, or death or alter, move, or remove related equipment or information without permission from the board or law enforcement.

The prime contractor or employer must investigate and prepare a written report outlining the circumstances of the incident, injury, or death that was reported.
