Rent Increase

A landlord must not impose a rent increase for at least 12 months after the tenant's initial rent was established under the tenancy agreement or the last rent increase, whichever applies.

A landlord must give the tenant at least three months' notice before the effective date of the rent increase. The notice must be in an approved form, which means that the landlord must use a specific document provided by the government.

Note: The above restrictions do not apply in cases where there is rent attributable to one or more additional tenants, it does not fall under these restrictions.
