Rest Periods
The hours of work are to be scheduled in a way that provides each employee with at least two full days of rest in a week.
Wherever practicable, Sunday should be one of the employee's normal days of rest.
If the employer requires or permits the employee to work regularly in excess of the daily standard hours of work, the employer:
may require the employee to work up to 28 continuous days without a day of rest; and
may require the employee to work up to seven more days continuously with the period of 28 days
when the additional work is necessary in order to complete the project on which the employee was employed during those 28 days
An employee who is required or permitted to work this work schedule is entitled to:
to at least one day of rest for each continuous seven days of work; and
to take the employee’s accrued days of rest continuously with each other.
Rest Periods
An employer shall ensure that each employee has a rest period of at least eight consecutive hours free from work each 24 hour period
Split Shifts
If an employee works a split shift, the employer shall limit the employee's standard hours of work to the 12-hour period immediately following the start of the employee's shift
If the employer submits an application and on being satisfied the employee has consented to the application, the director may order a split shift which extends beyond 12 hours and which allows the employee to work standard hours at any time during the split shift in such a manner as may be prescribed in the order.
