Payment of rent

A tenant must pay rent on time, even if the landlord is not following the rules of the tenancy agreement or the law.

• A tenant can only withhold rent if they have a legal right to do so.

Tenants are responsible for keeping the rental unit clean and sanitary and repairing any damage they (or someone they authorize into the unit) cause to the property or facilities

• tenants are not responsible for repairs due to reasonable wear and tear.
