Employee and Employer Duties
Workers are responsible for taking reasonable action to minimize the loss of earnings resulting from an injury and cooperating with the development of a rehabilitation plan to return to suitable employment.
Employers must notify the board within five days of becoming aware of an injury that prevents a worker from earning full wages or necessitates medical aid. They are also responsible for cooperating with the board and the worker to achieve the early and safe return of an injured worker to their employment.
Failure to report an injury may result in fines and compensation payments.
Healthcare professionals who attend or are consulted with respect to an injury are responsible for furnishing the board with relevant reports, giving necessary information and advice to the injured worker, and providing any certificates and proofs that the board may require.
Every healthcare professional or hospital official who attends to, is consulted with respect to or has care of an injured worker must furnish the board with reports required by the board and may charge a fee for a report furnished.
