Just Cause

If an employee's employment is terminated due to just cause, the employee is not entitled to notice or pay in lieu of notice.

Just cause may include:

  • if the employee is guilty of serious misconduct, such as

    • theft,

    • violence

    • insubordination or

    • wilful misconduct.

  • Just cause may also include:

    • excessive employee absenteeism,

    • chronic tardiness and

    • other unscheduled absences from work.
