Eating Breaks

Employers must give employees an unpaid meal break of at least 30 minutes for every five hours of work unless there's an emergency or it's not reasonable to take a break.

  • Employers must allow employees to eat while working if they work five or more consecutive hours and don't get a meal break.

  • Employers must provide unpaid meal breaks for medical reasons if necessary.
