Hours of Work
Employers must give notice to their employees about their work schedule, including:
start and end times,
shift times, and
meal break times,
at least one week in advance.
If the schedule changes, the employer must provide written notice at least one week in advance, and the notice must include the same information as the original schedule.
Employers cannot require employees to work more than 44 hours per week (or a reduced number of hours if there is a public holiday), except in unexpected, unusual, or emergency circumstances.
If employees are working under a modified work arrangement or averaging authorization, the employer cannot require them to work more hours than specified in that arrangement.
Employers cannot require employees to work without at least eight consecutive hours of rest each day, except in emergency circumstances.
