Overtime

If an employee works overtime (more than their regular hours) for their employer, the employer must pay them one and a half times their regular rate of pay for each hour of overtime worked.

  • if the employee requests it in writing, the employer can give the employee one and a half hours of paid time off work for each hour of overtime worked instead of paying them the extra money.

    • The paid time off must be taken within three months of the work week in which the overtime was earned.

    • If the employee leaves the job before using up the paid time off, the employer must pay them overtime pay for any overtime hours that they worked but were not compensated for.
