Sick Leave

If an employee has worked for an employer for at least three months, they can ask for up to three days of unpaid sick leave in a year.

If they need three days in a row, the employer can ask for a note from a doctor.

  • The employee should tell the employer how long they expect to be away.

If the employee has worked for the same employer for five years, they can ask for one paid day of sick leave in addition to the three unpaid days. If they take the paid day off, they should be paid their regular rate of pay.
