Breaks
Eating periods
An employer must give an employee a 30-minute break if they work for five consecutive hours.
If the employer and employee agree, the 30-minute break can be split into two breaks for every five-hour shift.
The employer does not have to pay the employee for the break unless it is stated in their contract.
The director will create a document that outlines the employee's rights and the employer's responsibilities regarding breaks.
