Termination by Tenant

If the rental agreement has a specific date for when it ends, a tenant can end it on that date by giving the landlord notice at least 30 days before the end date.

If a rental agreement does not specify an end date, the tenant can terminate the agreement on the last day of a rental period by providing notice to the landlord.

  • If rent is paid on a weekly basis, the tenant must give at least seven days' notice, and

  • If rent is paid on a monthly basis, the tenant must give at least 30 days' notice.

If the tenant wishes to terminate the agreement before the end of the rental period, they must provide notice within these timeframes.
