Standard Hours

An employee's normal working day is 8 hours.

An employee's normal working week is 40 hours.

An employer may ask or allow an employee to work more than the standard hours of work, subject to certain conditions.

The maximum number of hours an employee can work in a day is 10 hours, and the maximum number of hours in a week is 60 hours.

An employer cannot require or allow an employee to exceed the maximum hours of work unless it is necessary due to an emergency or unforeseen circumstances.

An employee can work more than the maximum hours in an emergency situation only to the extent necessary to prevent serious interference with the ordinary working of the industrial establishment.
