Rest Periods
Employers must give their employees at least one day off per week,
which should be on Sunday if possible.
There are exceptions to the requirements set out above. Employers may require employees to work for more than six consecutive days in the following circumstances:
In case of an accident
In case of work required to be done to the machinery or establishment of the employer whose employees are affected
In case of an occurrence beyond human control, but only to the extent necessary to avoid serious interference with the ordinary working of the employer's undertaking.
An employer can request approval from the Director to substitute an alternative arrangement for a day off.
