Tips and Gratuities
Tips or gratuities belong to the employee who receives them.
Employers, managers, supervisors, or representatives of the employer cannot force an employee to share their tips with them.
If a customer pays a surcharge or other charge instead of a tip or gratuity, it is still considered a tip or gratuity for the employee who receives it.
If a customer pays with a credit or debit card and itemizes the amount of the tip or gratuity, the employer may deduct any required deductions from the employee's pay.
