Landlord Remedies

If a tenant does not maintain their obligations in the tenancy agreement and the standard obligations set out in the Residential Tenancies Act, the landlord can give the tenant a written notice stating the problem, including the tenant's name and address, and a deadline to fix the problem.

If the tenant doesn't fix the problem by the deadline, the landlord can notify a residential tenancies officer in writing, who may inspect the premises and require the tenant to comply with their obligations.

If the tenant still doesn't comply, the residential tenancies officer can serve the tenant a notice to end the lease and leave the premises at a specified time.

Note: This does not apply to the tenant's obligation to pay rent.
