Rest Periods
Employers to give their employees a rest period of at least 24 consecutive hours each week, which should be taken through Sunday if possible. However, this doesn't apply to employees coping with an emergency or those who usually work for three hours or less in a day.
Employees may refuse to work on a Sunday if they work in a retail business or a part of it that is exempted from the application of the Days of Rest Act solely under certain provisions.
However, the employee must give the employer verbal or written notice of refusal at least 14 days before the Sunday in question.
Employers cannot dismiss, suspend, lay off, penalize, discipline, or discriminate against an employee for refusing to work on a Sunday or for enforcing their rights.
