Payment of Wages
An employer must pay their employees at least once every 16 days and must include all wages earned up to seven days before the payment date.
If an employee is absent or not paid on the scheduled date, they can request payment during regular working hours.
Employers must also provide their employees with a statement of pay, which includes information about the:
pay period,
gross pay,
deductions, and
net pay.
This statement can be provided electronically as long as the employee has confidential access to it and can make a paper copy.
Finally, employers must pay their employees by cash, cheque or bill of exchange payable on demand, or by direct deposit into an account of the employee's choice that is insured under the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation Act.
