Wrongful Termination

Wrongful termination occurs when an employer terminates an employee:

  • without the required notice or pay instead of notice;

  • without reasonable cause;

  • due to an employee exercising their rights under the Employment Standards Act such as:

    • applying for a leave

    • making a complaint

    • providing evidence of an employer violating the law

If an employee is wrongfully terminated, they may be entitled to compensation through an application to the board, a formal complaint, or legal action.
