Process of Filing for Divorce
The general process for filing a divorce includes:
Preparing and filing the Divorce Petition for divorce with the Registrar. This will include documents regarding the marriage and the terms of the divorce, such as child custody, property division, etc.
Serving the Divorce Petition to the other party. Please note that the serving of the documents must be done by a third party. Once the serving of documents is complete, the applicant must notify the court.
Prepare and file all relevant documents that must be filed to the court to show that you have followed the proper process.
Receive the Divorce Judgement, the divorce will come into effect on the 31st day after the judgment has been made.
Request a certificate of divorce, which is proof of the divorce. You may request the certificate once the divorce becomes official.
