Just Cause

"Just cause" is a legal term that means an employer has a valid reason to terminate an employee's employment without providing any notice or severance pay.

However, to determine if there is just cause, the specific circumstances and facts of each case must be considered, such as:

  • the employee's conduct,

  • the nature of the business,

  • the employee's position, and

  • the employer's policies.

  • theft,
