Domestic Violence Leave

If an employee, their child, or a person they care for is experiencing domestic violence, they are entitled to take up to 10 days of unpaid leave from work each year to deal with the situation. This can include getting:

  • medical help,

  • counselling,

  • legal assistance, or

  • simply needing to relocate temporarily or permanently.

The employee should let their employer know as soon as they can that they need to take this time off.
