Hours of Work
Every employer must notify the employees of the time at which work starts and ends by posting notices where they can be seen by employees, or by any other reasonable method.
An employer must not require an employee to change from one shift to another without at least 24 hours’ notice and 8 hours between shifts
This does not apply if an employee is under a collective agreement
An employer must limit an employee's hours of work within a period of 12 consecutive hours in any one work day unless:
an accident occurs,
urgent work is necessary to a plant or machinery, or
other unforeseeable, unpreventable circumstances.
Note: If hours of work must be extended, they are to be increased only to the extent necessary to avoid serious interference with the ordinary working of the business.
